Room Nurse is responsible for circulating in the operating room /n
and assisting physicians with advanced tasks or equipment during
surgical /n procedures. The RN must be able to work under high
pressure in a fast paced /n environment. You will apply good
interpersonal and communication process /n utilizing verbal and
non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of /n
customer satisfaction and a positive work environment. The position
requires the /n ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly
and the ability to respond /n quickly to the needs of the surgeon
and patient. This position assesses, plans, /n implements,
evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with
/n organizational policies and in accordance with standards of
professional nursing /n practice utilizing the framework for
professional nursing practice and /n development. This position is
accountable for the quality of nursing services /n delivered by
self or others who are under their direction. This position
utilizes /n specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills
necessary to assess data and /n plan, provide and evaluate care
appropriate to the physical and developmental /n age of assigned
patients. /n Responsibilities /n 1. Prepares for surgical
procedures by completing assessment of the patient and /n reviewing
patient chart, diagnostics, and labs. Reports abnormal results to
/n physicians and other appropriate care givers. Reviews patient
history and physical /n and consent forms and assures completion.
/n 2. Formulates and initiates plan of care based on patient
specific needs and /n medical plan of care. Plans care in
collaboration with members of /n multidisciplinary team. Reviews
and revises the plan of care to reflect changes in /n patient
needs. Provides care based on physician orders and in compliance
with /n policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory
agency requirements. /n Delegates appropriately, and provides
nursing supervision in the provision of care /n to patients by
other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of
/n care by accurately and completely communicating to other
caregivers the status /n of patients for whom care is provided. /n
3. Prepares for surgical procedure by ensuring all appropriate
supplies and /n instruments are available and room set up is
appropriate. Troubleshoots /n malfunctioning equipment and makes
minor adjustments or calls biomedical /n equipment staff. Checks
schedule and plans ahead for upcoming surgical case /n needs. /n 4.
Documents surgical procedure in the patient record. Documentation
is timely /n and in accordance with policy. Notes physician orders
accurately and in a timely /n manner. /n 5. Demonstrates the
principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions /n
throughout the procedure. Participates in counting sharps,
instruments and /n sponges. Disposes of sharps and trash
appropriately in designated areas. /n 6. Ensures that all surgeon
preference cards are accurate. /n 7. Assists with OR turnover
between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing /n supplies
and cleaning operating rooms. /n 8. Participates in or leads the
training and orientation of surgical staff and /n students, as
assigned. /n 9. This position follows safety procedures in regard
to medication labeling, /n appropriate handling of specimens,
appropriate handling of sharps, time-out /n procedure, radiation
and laser safety, and infection control. /n Minimum education:
Associates Degree in Nursing /n Preferred Education: Bachelor’s
Degree in Nursing /n Minimum experience: One year of operating room
experience in the acute care /n setting /n Preferred experience: 1
year in Level 1 trauma OR setting /n Required
licenses/certifications: Current, valid RN license in the state of
practice, /n BLS certification, ACLS certification /n Hours per
