Position description
The Pulmonary Respiratory Therapist provides assessment, treatment,
and monitoring of patients with cardiopulmonary compromise and
provides support for the equipment necessary for the care of these
patients. The Pulmonary Respiratory Therapist conducts a variety of
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and is a technical and
educational resource for patients, family members, and other
members of the patient care team. The Pulmonary Respiratory
Therapist must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth
and development of the life span. The Pulmonary Respiratory Care
Therapist demonstrates and maintains basic core competencies in the
clinical setting. The ability to assess data reflective of the
patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative
to the patient's age-specific needs is required.
Qualifications
Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
Minimum one year of post-graduate hospital respiratory care
experience and one year full-time critical care and arterial blood
gas experience required.
Additional qualifications
AAS degree preferred. Must have effective interpersonal skills,
patient assessment skills, and basic computer skills. Desire and
ability to obtain additional competencies including cross training
to MCH. One year of pulmonary diagnostics (pulmonary function
testing) experience preferred for Respiratory Therapists.
License or certification
Current Arizona licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)from National
Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a recognized international
credentialing body required. Certified Pulmonary Function
Technologist (CPFT) credential is required within 3 years of hire.
Basic life support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and
must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains BLS
competency. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification must
be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained thereafter. TEPP
(Tobacco Education Prevention Program) Certification in basic
tobacco skills program completion within one year of hire.

Schedule details
Monday through Friday position with possible occasional weekends
based on patient and business needs. Typical shift 4- 10 hr shifts
7am-5:30pm or 5- 8 hr shifts 7am-3:30pm or 8:30am-5pm. Rotation
between Scottsdale and Phoenix locations and cross-training
required.
