This position is a float with part time, full time and supplemental
hours phlebotomy position for the Mayo Clinic Phlebotomy Float Pool
serving both outpatient and inpatient laboratories. Floats to
different lab locations for both outpatient and inpatient areas as
needed and participates as an active team member of the Phlebotomy
Float Pool. Must have flexibility with schedule and ability to
adapt to outpatient and inpatient settings. Performs venipuncture,
collects blood, and provides appropriate post-care of phlebotomy
site. Prepares various specimens for analysis while maintaining
positive patient identification. Performs specimen processing in a
safe, accurate, and professional manner. Performs order entry;
retrieves and verifies patient collection data and patient special
notations using appropriate sources. Cooperates with coworkers in
the completion of assignments and sets priorities for specimen
collection. Performs all other assigned tasks as needed. Employs
standard precautions, infection control, and proper isolation

Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy, specimen handling, central
processing or medical assisting is required.
Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assisting
program or equivalent education required.
High School diploma or GED required.
Must be flexible with schedule
Must be adaptable to various types of locations- outpatient,
inpatient, and in office primary care settings.
Prior clinic and hospital experience preferred.
Must have flexibility to be available for assignment- cell phone or
other reliable method
Familiarity with lifespan growth and development, basic anatomy,
physiology, and basic medical terminology
Above average communication skills and strong attention to
Above average customer service and patient care skills
Proven ability to deal effectively with people in stressful
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to learn and utilize multiple computer systems
Ability to push/pull phlebotomy cart and supplies and
Experience in a hospital and/or clinical pathology environment
Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent
$16.70- $22.42 / hour
Hours / Pay period
As needed - 24/7;
This is a phlebotomy float position with hours and shift will vary
as needed, including weekends. Flexibility is required.
Phlebotomist will float to different lab locations for both
outpatient and inpatient areas as needed and participates as an
active team member of the Phlebotomy Float Pool.

will vary and includes some weekend coverage as needed or assigned.
Included PRN, part time and full time.
