Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College is seeking a Student Services
Manager for the Disability Resources and Services (DRS) department.
This position oversees the planning, development, implementation
and evaluation of the DRS department and its services.
Essential Functions
40% Manages the planning, development, implementation and
evaluation of the DRS department; trains and works closely with
faculty/staff to ensure administration of accommodations in a
timely, appropriate, and efficient manner; utilizes technology to
effectively monitor student accommodations and communicate with
students/faculty; responsible for individual programs, budgets,
services and assistive technology for disabled students; follows,
understands and adheres to legal regulations, laws, and policies
(state, local, institutional) related to disability regulations
such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the ADA Amendments Act; follows
best practices and trends, and provides updates the campus (as
needed).
25% Assists students with identifying and implementing
individualized plan of study; implements reasonable and appropriate
accommodations based on documentation of disability provided by
qualified diagnosticians for academic purposes; maintains student
confidentiality while coordinating the student's accommodations;
utilizes data to understand and advocate for students with
disabilities; creates an environment of support for students and
staff; serves as an active member of the Student Affairs Leadership
Team contributing to retaining and engaging students to
succeed.
20% Hires, supervises, coaches, trains, and evaluates DRS staff
performance; provides in-service training, coaching and counsel to
faculty, staff, administrators, and students; responds to inquiries
requiring a detailed knowledge of policies and procedures of the
DRS office; serves on district and college committees including,
but not limited to the District Disability Resources and Services
Council; provides information sessions and introduction
orientations on disability services for new students and the
greater campus community; provides and maintains exceptional
customer service for diverse populations.
15% Prepares and monitors department budget; seeks funding
opportunities such as grants and partnerships as appropriate;
responds to and resolves difficult or complex inquiries, requests
or complaints; collects and compiles data for federal and state
reports.Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of
the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in
education, sociology, business administration or related field and
five (5) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible
student services or related experience that includes such things as
administration of policies and procedures, program oversight, and
two (2) years of supervisory experience.
OR
Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in
education, sociology, business administration or related field and
seven (7) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible
student services or related experience that includes such things as
administration of policies and procedures, program oversight, and
two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
A. Master's Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited
post-secondary institution.
B. Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Disability
Services department/organization, specifically making decisions
regarding reasonable accommodations in accordance with Section 504
of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA).
C. Three (3) or more years of experience managing, supervising,
developing, and evaluating a diverse professional and support staff
including full-time and/or part-time employees.
D. Experience working with assistive technology and other emerging
technologies to support student learning, including experience with
DRS Connect or similar platform.
E. Experience working with diverse student populations.
